Camelsback Invitational – 2011 Season Opener

Borah senior Scott Khuu hammers the downhill on the backside of Camel’s Back Park during the 2011 Camelsback Invitational at Boise, ID on August 27, 2011.

Let the XC meets begin. The Camelsback Invitational is the Treasure Valley’s first meet of the season. This year’s edition showcased dominating performances by the Rocky Mountain boys and the Mountain View girls and even though it’s very early in the season, you have to believe they will be top contenders at the state meet.

If you are a cross country fan this was a triple header day. The Borah hosted Camelsback Invitational went off at 8:30. A few miles away, Boise High’s Run for the Pie meet started at 10:00, and across town Bishop Kelly’s Jimmy Driscoll Invitational had a high noon start.

While I was only able to make it to the first meet, it was fun to see the kickoff of my favorite fall sport. This year I was taking pictures on the backside of the Camelsback course, so while I missed the start and finish of the races, it was nice to capture a different part of the course.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and I’ll see you at the meets. – Gregg
