The 2011 edition of the Bob Firman Invitational included over 3,000 competitor representing 112 schools from 11 states. When the dust settled two familiar names claimed the top individual honors. Highland (Pocatello, ID) senior Dallin Farnsworth and North Central (Spokane, WA) junior Katie Knight defended their Bob Firman titles. On the team side, Arcadia, 2010 NXN National Boys Champions, continued their winning streak with a strong performance against a field that included 7 of the top 25 teams on ESPNRise FAB50 team ranking.

A record participant day and a record heat day with temperatures hovering in the mid 90′s. The Eagle Island course continues to get refined with major changes for this year’s event including widening the course at the top of Spectator Hill, removing the bumps from the start and finish area, and extending the sand section. Tough competition in every race. For many of the athletes, this meet represents the fastest and deepest race field they will face all year.

Meet co-founders and co-race directors Tim Severa and Dave Mills along with co-race director Ryan Canning and a huge group of volunteers continue to make this one of the top high school meets in the nation. Having Mr. Bob Firman hand out the awards just makes it even more special.
